NASA enables Scouts to learn about its missions of exploration at BSA events such as the National Scout Jamboree and the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC), not to mention the national convention of the Girl Scouts of the USA.  And in 2019, NASA participated in the 24th World Scout Jamboree, held in West Virginia at the Summit Bechtel Reserve.

NASA participation has included hands-on activities, exhibits, merit badge work, and the chance to speak with NASA employees.  And through amateur radio or even video, Scouts have been able to speak with astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS).  Furthermore, astronauts and former astronauts have sometimes appeared in person, in the latter case especially thanks to the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA).  Guy Bluford, Charlie Duke, Mike Fossum, Greg H. Johnson, and Scott Parazynski are some of the Eagle Scout astronauts who have appeared at national BSA events.  For an example of NASA’s outreach to Scouts, check out some its activities at the 24th World Scout Jamboree.
