Revolutionary Icing Materials Evaluation (RIME)

RIMEThe Revolutionary Icing Materials Evaluation (RIME) Lab, located at NASA GRC, has capabilities to conduct experiments and data analysis required to understand the adhesive strength of impact ice on various substrates. Testing capabilities include shear-adhesion and a centrifuge, as well as grain structure analysis of ice. NASA is currently developing a new adhesion methodology called the Deformed Skin Adhesion Test (DSAT). Finally, the lab is equipped with multiple freezers which allows for the long-term storage of samples at various conditions.
