Supporting the Planetary Science Division in the Science Mission Directorate
NASA’s Planetary Exploration Science Technology Office (PESTO) was created by the Planetary Science Division to recommend non-mission specific, non-nuclear investments in planetary technology; to manage those investments; to coordinate planetary-relevant technology investments across the agency; and to maximize technology infusion into specific missions.
The Planetary Exploration Science Technology Office (PESTO) is managed at Glenn Research Center (GRC) as part of the Planetary Science Division (PSD).
PESTO programs fund instruments, components, and spacecraft technology that enable NASA Planetary Science Missions.
PESTO will hold a yearly review of the projects in the technology programs it manages, and hold an alternating year in person Technology Showcase.
Our projects develop and mature, to high technology readiness levels (TRL 6), innovative technologies for planetary science exploration.
Comprehensive Technology Strategy Feedback on Comprehensive Technology Strategy PESTO developed a comprehensive Planetary Science Technology Development strategy to outline how we will create widely available advanced capabilities to explore the solar system. The Plan will focus on: Gaining new understandings that answer priority science questions Reaching new destinations Operating in new environments in new ways … Read the rest ⇢
